Devil A STANDALONE NOVEL DARK SUSPENSE edition by Ker Dukey Romance eBooks

Ok. I read a lot of erotica. For the simple pleasure of reading. It's my escape. But this book ... was DARK. I'm ok with dark erotica, but NOT on this level. This was violent and abusive. I am also very aware that children are sexually abused in this sometimes awful and twisted world. I know it's a real thing. But this novel is not the way I want to learn about it. I can NOT Enjoy a book with this type of abuse. You can not mix in a relatively nice guy and a hot sex scene or TWO with this level of violence against a child and expect good ratings. What is wrong with this?!? Not only is it twisted that a mother and father are actually brother and sister, but the father AND sons rape the daughter/ sister. This book needs a category all in its own. NOT erotica.

Devil A STANDALONE NOVEL DARK SUSPENSE edition by Ker Dukey Romance eBooks Reviews

As soon as Devil went LIVE my fingers went to clicking and I completely devoured it. Once again, Ker Dukey blew my mind. It was AMAZING and her best one yet! Evi's story is heartbreaking and will have you swimming, nearly drowning trying to figure it out.

"Underneath all the confusion and doubt, I was hiding all along, just waiting to be pulled through the wreckage of my past. Max uncovered me amongst the murky waters and reminded me who I am. I’m resilient. I’m vengeful. I’m whole. I’m Evi Devil. And I have the wings and the horns to prove it."

We're introduced to Max and good GAWWWDDD does it get HOT! When Max and Evi are together, you can feel the tension and heat radiating off each other. The way he speaks to her will melt your panties off!!!

“You can’t keep looking at me like this. I can practically smell your f****** need and it’s going to drive me insane. Look at you. Damn, Evi. You were always beautiful, even as a child, but God, the woman you’ve evolved into… you’re remarkable.” <3 <3 <3

Once you dig deeper into the story you can't help but fall in love with Max even more.

“My soul has known yours before we were put here on Earth and it will love you long after we leave it. Whether you stay with me or leave me to go back to your life, I’ll find you again. I promise. I’ll hold on tighter and love you harder than any pain you’ve ever felt. All you’ll ever feel is me loving you, showing you that in chaos where our souls grew, wild flowers flourish. We’re the wild flowers, Evi. Unpredictable, untamable, and unstoppable. I know you don’t remember us and we were kids back then, but our bond was forged so long ago that it can never be broken. I know you feel it.”

SWOON!!!

I don't want to give too much away. You will not be disappointed. This book is a must-read! <3
Oh. My. Freaking. Stars. This book was freaking incredible! The first words that come to mind to describe this aren't exactly words people use in civilized conversation. So right now all those wonderful curse words are the only thing making their way thru my head to describe the rollercoaster I just went on! Without a doubt, this is in my top 3 books of the year for me.

From the beginning everything is shrouded in the perfect amount of mystery. You get enough to keep you reading, yet you don't get a ton dropped on you all at once. And then on top of that, you start to second guess what's truth and imagination. It's all freaking brilliant! This book literally takes you to the very end, and I guarantee you that you will not see it coming. I just finished the book and already wanna reread it, just to see how much better it is knowing all that I now know.

Let me be clear that this book has dark themes. If you feel even a little bit worried about that fact then I encourage you not to read this book because it isn't fair for the author to suffer from bad reviews or slander because you were the one who didn't heed the warnings and not read what you weren't comfortable with.

That being said, if you can handle dark themes, and love psychological thrillers then this book is definitely for you!
Devil was about Evi recanting her past from when she was a child. Evi suppressed those memories and with the help of a therapist, Evi recounts the night that changed her life.
Some chapters alternated between past memories, therapy sessions, and present events. The chapters were titled with some dark words setting the dark mood. Kerry created a sense of fear, danger, and mystery. Kerry's book description described Devil best, with no further explanation needed. Just prepare yourself for a suspenseful thrilling story that is guaranteed to give you chills.

“I want answers. I closed my eyes twelve years ago in this yard and woke up on the wrong side of reality,” Quote from Evi clearly states her turmoil at reaching her suppressed memories. "I will my memory to give me something, to stir any recollection, but nothing comes." This is the reoccurring theme and driving force of Evi's character.
Evi's character experienced many facets of pain, lust, grief, and confusion while searching for memories.
The story kept me guessing the entire time. Every time Kerry added a character or a new memory I found myself digging deeper into the previous characters and what Kerry already gave me for information. I really enjoyed each character that was added, they certainly brought more depth to Evi's character. Max was my favorite character as he seemed sincere, concerned, and protective of Evi. I like how Kerry kept my mind on alert searching for any type of clue from a Evi's behavior.

Kerry's writing is beautiful yet haunting. She is able to express how I feel with common words that are easy to digest. Kerry's book the Devil was a standalone suspense story that held darkness, lust, and mystery. Kerry's words popped off the pages igniting the sparks of imagery.
Fear had the ability to instill memories of a tainted past hidden in the lake, the house, and the nightmares.
Kerry thank you for your continued dedication to writing stories about dark unconventional love. "...love doesn’t see with its eyes, hear with sound, feel with touch; it connects with its mind, and once it does, there’s no going back.” Poetry in motion.
